Advocacy

Muskaan is deeply committed to driving impactful advocacy initiatives aimed at advancing road safety policies across multiple levels of governance.

  • National Level: At the national level, Muskaan takes up critical issues pertaining to pedestrian safety, the licensing system, enhancement of Public Transport system in the country and various other road safety matters through  engaging with the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety.
  • State Level: Our impact extends to the state level as well where we actively engage with the Chief Minister’s office, resulting in the reinforcement of emergency response systems in Rajasthan. As the chosen member of the state Road Safety Committee, we advocate for  establishment of trauma centers, effective provision of free treatment to accident victims, and recognition and rewards for Good Samaritans.
  • City Level:  As the representative member of the Traffic Control Board chaired by the Commissioner Jaipur development Authority, Muskaan has the porivelidge of voicing traffic concerns of the citizens. At the city level, Muskaan works in close collaboration with local authorities and policymakers to champion critical measures like enhancement of road infrastructure and implementation of effective traffic management systems, and the rigorous enforcement of traffic regulations.
  • As Muskaan is the nominated member of the Traffic Management Committee chaired by Collector, we are able to address the Traffic related  concerns of citizens and road users.
Our relentless commitment to advocating for safer roads spans from the local communities we serve to the highest echelons of government, with a singular focus on saving lives and preventing accidents.

Jeevan Raksgak Yojna

Through our dedicated advocacy efforts during budget discussions and meetings with the esteemed Chief Minister, we successfully introduced the following initiatives to support road accident victims:

  • Effective implementation of Good Samaritan laws
  • Jeevan Rakshak Yojana: Providing a Rs 5000 award to Good Samaritans.
  • Free Treatment for Road Accident Victims in Rajasthan.

CBSE, SCERT - No Bag Day

In 2005, our NGO received a nomination to join the committee established by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. This committee was tasked with developing a curriculum focused on road safety and various other important social issues to be incorporated into school education.

More recently, The Muskaan Foundation for Road Safety actively participated in a curriculum development workshop for ‘No-Bag Day’ at SCERT Udaipur. Working in collaboration with educators from diverse backgrounds, we successfully crafted a comprehensive road safety curriculum designed for implementation in all government schools across Rajasthan during ‘No-Bag Days

Round Table Meetings

  1. A Round Table Meeting with Educational Institutes chaired by Director General of Police  Rajasthan:

Muskaan organized a Round Table Meeting chaired by Shri Umesh Mishra IPS, Director General of Police Rajasthan, which brought together colleges and universities to discuss Road Safety and the Role of Educational Institutions. The meeting included distinguished individuals like Shri Manoj Bhatt, Retd. IPS, Former DGP of Rajasthan, and Shri V.K. Singh IPS, Former Addl. DGP Traffic, Rajasthan.

During this meeting, several actionable points were deliberated upon, including:

  • Establishment of Road Safety Clubs.
  • Organization of a minimum of 5 road safety awareness programs with rural and semi-rural communities surrounding educational institutions, involving both students and faculty.
  • Creation of a year-round calendar of road safety activities, including Eye and Health Checkups for institution-affiliated drivers.
  • Implementation of refresher road safety training and Basic Life Support Training for drivers.
  • Provision of Road Safety Orientation and Basic Life Support Training for students, faculty, and other staff.
  • Conducting road safety audits of campus premises and timely implementation of recommended changes.
  • Ensuring secure and appropriate parking spaces for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, with a zero-tolerance policy for on-road parking.
  • Organizing visits by the Police and RTO for license and vehicle fitness checks for all individuals, including drivers, students, faculty, and staff.

 In all the above activities Muskaan ‘s role will remain vital.

Conferences
